The SGH-D900 from Samsung has all the techniques that a mobile phone has to offer. It is an elegant and efficient mobile phone that you can use for both your business purposes and entertainment alike. In fact this quadri-band GSM enables you to communicate simply and efficiently whether you are using live voice, SMS or built in WAP navigator. The 13mm slide-up is the thinnest slider ever designed. The powerful integrated mobile camera is an autofocus 3.13-megapixel model with 4x digital zoom which comes a lot closer to a proper camera and the photos are good quality in a range of light settings. It's true of all digital zooms, but even more so with mobile cameras - if you want a bigger shot, you're much better off moving closer to your target in the first place. The D900's 3-megapixel camera also makes it capable of recording video that is compliant with the H.263 and MPEG4 standards at a top resolution of 352x288 pixels and at 30 frames per second. On the connectivity front, the D900 supports Bluetooth stereo headset (A2DP) function to enhance users multimedia experience, USB 1.1 connections and PictBridge. The SGH-D900 also features a multimedia player - ideal for listening to your favourite music or watching videos in between two calls. Music is supported via MP3, AAC, AAC+, and e-AAC+ audio. When used with the supplied headphones, you get a really good, full sound. Speaking of which, the call quality is really good and clear so Samsung hasn’t forgotten what this handset’s primary purpose is. The SGH-D900 also includes business features such as T9 Document viewer which supports various file formats like Word, Excel, Powerpoint and PDFs. Organizer TV output Voice memo Built-in handsfree is a real Gift! The excellent 256k colour screen is really vivid and aided by a strong backlight which dims when the phone is not in use. The resolution is clear and the fonts are easily readable. As for performance Samsung rates the D900 as having a talk time of three hours and a standby time of 250 hours. The interface is simple and well designed; Samsung’s design boffins have gone for a classic look instead of cartoony icons and this sits well with the overall look and feel of the handset. Given this, it’s strange that when you dial a new number that isn’t in the contacts list, the screen shows a graphic of a pen writing the number on a piece of paper in a fancy font. There's definitely a certain cachet in having a thinner phone than anyone else, and while it does introduce some design challenges, one would be very pleased with the D900 in terms of its features and general phone performance.
